In an attempt to be understanding of the companies of the world. I am going to attempt to write a pros and cons list reguarding automated phone systems. This blog is being written only minutes after spending some time tangled in Verizon Wireless's computer secretary, so it may sway to one side, but I'll try to remain unbiased.
Pro
You don't have to be on hold for 20 minutes waiting your turn with the next operator who can barely speak english.
Con
It doesn't help when you yell at the computer. All you'll get is "Would you please repeat that request?" said in a voice that sounds a lot like the Enterprise computer from Star Trek.
Pro
I can't think of another
Con
If you push a wrong button, you have to start all over again.
Pro
I can't think of another
Con
If what you want isn't on the list of things that the no-pulse robot secretary says, you're out of luck
Pro
I really can't think of another.
This is to all you companies that have gotten so big that you feel you no longer need to have real people answer your phones for you. Please-Have mercy on us. It's really hard to sweet talk a computer and I can use all the help I can get.
